New: Free 100 CCU for Photon Fusion and Quantum Games
Photon Engine proudly introduces a substantial upgrade to our service offerings: the launch of a FREE 100 Concurrent Users (CCU) tier for both Photon Fusion and Quantum. This update is a commitment to support developers by 5x the free CCU limit from 20 to 100. This enhancement is designed not only for the development phase but also for the launch phase of your gaming projects.
With Photon Fusion 2 capable of supporting over 200 players and Photon Quantum 3 supporting more than 100 CCUs in a single room, we now provide developers with an increased free CCU allowance. This significant enhancement facilitates more comprehensive testing of game mechanics in large-scale environments and offers a smoother runway for games preparing to soft launch.
Over the last ten years, we’ve helped launch over 10,000 games and apps worldwide. Our live games collectively engage over 1.4 billion Monthly Active Users (MAU). Through our extensive experience and data analysis across these games, we’ve identified a general pattern that apply widely over the lifetime of a game:
- Concurrent Users (CCU) multiplied by 20 approximates Daily Active Users (DAU).
- In turn, DAU multiplied by 20 gives a close estimate of Monthly Active Users (MAU).
Based on this model, an average of 100 CCU translates to approximately 40,000 MAU at no additional cost. It’s important to note, however, that these figures are generalized estimates and can vary based on specific game dynamics, user engagement strategies, and other factors.
To take advantage of this new offer, simply navigate to the Photon Dashboard, select an application, click “-/+ CCU”, select the 100 CCU tab then activate the Free 100 CCU plan.

Can I apply the Free 100 CCU offer to both a Quantum and Fusion app at the same time?
The Free 100 CCU plan is available for either a Photon Fusion or a Quantum app within your account, meaning it can be applied to one application only.
Can each of my developers have a Free 100 CCU plan?
No, the Free 100 CCU plan is limited to one application per studio/team.
What if my app is currently on a 100 CCU paid plan?
Apps currently on a 100 CCU paid plan will maintain their status and not automatically convert to the Free 100 CCU plan.
Can I receive a refund if I recently purchased a 100 CCU paid plan?
Customers who purchased a 100 CCU paid plan after February 29, on our website, are eligible to request a refund before March 31, 2024, by contacting us at hello@photonengine.com.
Is it possible to have multiple apps with 100 CCU?
For developers requiring 100 CCU for more than one app, a paid plan is available at $95 for 12 months per app.
Can the free 100 CCU be combined with an existing paid CCU plan?
The Free 100 CCU plan is designed as a standalone offer and cannot be combined with any existing paid CCU plans.
What happens if I decide to upgrade from the free 100 CCU plan to a paid plan?
Transitioning from the complimentary 100 CCU plan to a premium subscription is a seamless procedure. The 100 CCU Free plan cannot be stacked with a paid plan, but it becomes available again for another app in case you upgrade.
Can I downgrade my app from a 100 CCU Free plan to a 20 CCU Free plan?
No, you cannot downgrade to a free plan.
