Multiplayer Game Jam 2022 Winners
It used to be said that making a multiplayer game during a game jam is a crazy idea, but here we are with the awards of a full month-long Game Jam with Multiplayer as the core.
“I can now build multiplayer games!” or “Once you get the pattern, it’s actually very doable.” are some of the comments we were hearing from new developers. Hundreds downloaded our samples and created their own unique simulations. Thousands watched our live streams and asked questions in the chat. We had a fabulous time helping the game developers’ community to achieve their dream online simulation. Those multiple moments where we saw developers unlock a new skill are priceless.
As a recap, we announced the theme, Reconnect, on the 15th of September. Made 11 live streams to support the jammers during the month-long jam and answered the community questions on Discord. We had no expectations but were overwhelmed by the amount of interest we received. 800+ game developers from over 75 countries participated in the first edition of the MGJ. Judges from MiniClip, Nine66, Global Game Jam and Photon selected the winners based on a set of criteria pre-established before the Jam started. Global Game Jam and Photon announced our Multiplayer Game Jam winners during the award stream on the 20th of November.
We received 76 submissions and had a lot of fun playing the games. Here is a highlight video.
Congratulation to the winners of this first edition. Each winner received a Gaming Circle Starter subscription while covering the game up to 500CUU for a year long. During that period, winners can grow their games with peace of mind.
You can rewatch the live stream awards for the jam.
In January 2023, we will be part of the Global Game Jam and host the second edition of the Multiplayer Game Jam later in the year. Registration for the Global Game Jam opens on the 5th of December. Keep an eye on our newsletter to know the date for MGJ 23, until then, we will have plenty of new samples and features for you to train and learn.
Thank you again for being an awesome community!
